The Polish and Swiss teams are seeking qualification for the BJK Cup Finals which will be held in Seville in November.

Świątek, who won the first leg of the Sunshine Double at Indian Wells earlier this month, was outplayed by Ekaterina Alexandrova.

“Sometimes we have matches like that, and we need to figure out how to close them anyway,” Świątek told reporters after the match.

Women’s Tennis Association announced on Monday that ranking leader Iga Świątek has been named WTA player of the year for the second consecutive year. Tomasz Wiktorowski the coach of the Polish super-athlete was named trainer of the year.

Iga Świątek dominated American Jessica Pegula 6-1, 6-0 to win the season-ending WTA Finals in Cancun on Monday and regain her world number one ranking from Aryna Sabalenka.
