A Polish zoo is offering the broken-hearted a Valentine's Day experience to remember - by letting them name a cockroach after their ex-partner and then feeding it to a meerkat. There is no shortage of people willing to do so.
Łódź ZOO Orientarium, just south of the capital Warsaw, said it wanted to allow those whose “temperature of romantic elations has significantly dropped” to get back at their ex-partners by adopting a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach.
Posting on its website, the zoo said: “How to get revenge on a partner who just left you?
“A fresh wound after a breakup can be soothed by... adopting a Madagascar cockroach.
“Anyone who wants to become a caretaker of the insect will be able to choose one of three adoption options.”
The experience is available in three different packages, each catering to various levels of revenge fantasies.
In the basic package for €12, the zoo says “participants can name a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach after their ex and receive an electronic adoption certificate.
“It's a symbolic gesture that allows heartbroken individuals to take a small step toward closure.”
The premium package for €36 “lets adopters take things a step further,” the zoo said.
“In addition to naming the cockroach, this tier includes a photo capturing the exact moment when the cockroach is devoured by one of the zoo’s animals.
“It’s a fitting way to immortalize the end of one chapter by watching the bug face its demise.”
The “ultimate revenge package” for €72 gives VIPs “the opportunity to personally feed their ex-named cockroach to a hungry meerkat.
“The hands-on experience allows for a much closer—and more personal—connection to the act of getting back at a former lover.”
The zoo added: “If you choose the VIP package, a zoo employee will contact you via the email address provided to arrange a time to feed the meerkat.”
All proceeds from the limited offer will be used to protect the endangered species living at the zoo.
