The Polish Prime Minister announced on Friday that the country would “formally undertake efforts” to host the Olympic Games.
During a conference in Karczew, central Poland, Donald Tusk said that the most realistic prospect, given the preliminary decisions, commitments, and declarations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), would be 2040 or 2044.
“We have already been working for many months to make this dream, which would be the Olympics in Poland, a reality,” he said.
Poland co-hosted Euro football tournament with Ukraine in 2012 and last summer hosted the multi-sports European Games, but has never hosted the Olympic Games.
