Vast majority of Poles eager to participate in upcoming local elections: poll

Some 85 percent of the Polish people have declared that they will vote in the forthcoming local election, a recent poll has shown.

The country will hold a local election on April 7 to elect commune, county and provincial councilors, as well as town and city mayors.

According to the Public Opinion Research Center (CBOS), 85% of the respondents declared to vote in the forthcoming election, with 74% saying that they would surely go to the polls. Four percent said they would surely not vote, 3% said they would rather not, and 8% were undecided.

Two weeks before the election, 83% of those eligible to vote said they were interested in the forthcoming election, with 40% having displayed a deep interest in voting, CBOS wrote.

CBOS conducted the survey between March 18 and 22, using the Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) method, on a sample of 1,000 Polish residents.
