The EU is to increase the number of Ukrainian soldiers being trained but will not do so inside Ukrainian territory, the block’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Friday.

The Romanian military has pledged to investigate an incident at the Bemowo Piskie shooting range in Poland and offer full compensation for damages, Polish Minister of Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Saturday.

A new military program for the youth is attracting more and more Poles, including women, a Polish newspaper reports.

France has invited Poland, along with the U.S. and several European nations, to participate in a training mission for Ukrainian soldiers, as reported by the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.

Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová announced that the country will train 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers in 2024, but will not send its instructors to Ukraine.

The EU Diplomatic Academy (EUDA), set up by the European Council on Tuesday with the aim of training EU diplomats, is to have a full-time presence in Warsaw.

On Wednesday afternoon, the second soldier injured in an accident at the training ground in Drawsko Pomorskie died in a hospital in Szczecin. Both soldiers were driven over by a tracked vehicle during an exercise on Tuesday.

Estonian reservists ended a five-day training course on Friday, during which they became familiar with the Polish Piorun short-range air defense systems delivered to Estonia in January, BNS reported.
