Since the start of the war with Russia in February 2022, a total of 43,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and 370,000 wounded, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced.
Zelenskyy made the statement on the Telegram messaging app on Sunday. He added that more than 50% of injured personnel had returned to the army’s ranks.
“Our people are defending their homes at the cost of their lives, and every life of our soldiers and civilians is precious to us,” Zelenskyy wrote. “Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has lost 43,000 soldiers who were killed on the battlefield.
“We have 370,000 cases of assistance to the injured, and it must be taken into account that in our army about 50% of the wounded return to service, and all wounds, including light and recurring ones, are recorded," the post continued.
