The U.S. will resume deliveries of a high-precision glide bomb that can hit targets 160km away, the Reuters news agency reported.
Supplies of the Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bombs (GLSDB) were halted when Washington suspended arms deliveries to Ukraine on March 3.
The weapon, which had been susceptible to jamming, has been modified to beat Russian electronic warfare countermeasures, sources familiar with the munitions told Reuters on Friday.
The GLSDB, which are glide bombs with small wings to extend their reach, can travel up to 160km, offering Ukrainian forces the capability of striking Russian military installations and supply hubs far behind the front line.
The GLSDB could be in action on the battlefield in days, as stockpiles of the bombs are already in Europe, Reuters said.
The news came following reports that Ukraine had run out of Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), a tactical ballistic missile with a range of 300km, the Joe Biden administration had supplied to Ukraine.
The U.S. restored weapons supplies to Ukraine after a meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian representatives in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, which agreed on a 30-day ceasefire plan.
