President Donald Trump has said that the U.S. will sign a new minerals deal next Thursday, in an apparent reference to talks with Ukraine.

This is the first time Zelenskyy has openly accused China of aiding Russia in the war.

Ukraine’s parliament has extended martial law until August, lawmakers said, delaying the timing of new elections that the United States and Russia have been pushing for.

Donald Trump has said that the Ukrainian president will face “big, big problems” if he pushes for changes to a draft deal on U.S. access to Kyiv’s natural resources.

Discussions took place on Sunday aimed at ending Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would speak to President Donald Trump later on Wednesday, adding that the United States should monitor any ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia focusing on energy facilities.

Ukrainian and U.S. officials have indicated that crunch peace talks in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday are making progress amid efforts to find a path towards ending the war with Russia.

A senior American official said talks are being arranged for next week.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said the first stages to ending the war with Russia could include a prisoner release, and a truce in the sky and sea if Moscow does the same.

Ukraine’s president has said he and other leaders across Europe are united in the belief that U.S.-backed security arrangements are needed for a peace deal between Kyiv and Moscow.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said Poland can use its close ties with Washington to push for stronger U.S. backing for Ukraine, arguing that Warsaw’s high defense spending makes its voice more influential.

Zelenskyy arrived in London on Saturday following a heated on-air clash with Trump.

“Europe must mobilise itself in order to grow stronger,” Poland’s deputy interior minister has said, warning that the era of U.S. security guarantees for the continent is “coming to an end.”

Italy's prime minister said Italy would propose to its partners an immediate summit involving the United States and European nations and allies to discuss how “to deal with the great challenges of today, starting with Ukraine.”

Donald Tusk was one of the first to offer his support for Zelenskyy after the meeting.
