Poland has emerged as a major player in the Christmas decoration market, ranking as Europe’s third largest and the world’s fifth largest exporter of Christmas baubles, according to a new report.

Currency trader Akcenta found that in 2023 Poland exported Christmas decorations worth €68.2 million, with Germany (€15.6 million), the United States (€14.8 million), and France (€4.3 million) among the top buyers.

Polish baubles are also sold in markets such as the Czech Republic, Austria, and Australia where they are recognized “not only for their unique design, but also for their durability,” the report said.

Akcenta also found that Polish exports far outpaced imports, which totaled €46.7 million, mostly sourced from China (€36.2 million), Germany (€4.6 million), and the Netherlands (€1.7 million).

Attributing the Polish baubles’ success to their “unique design” and “durability”, Radosław Jarema of Akcenta said: “China, which dominates the market, saw a 42 percent year-on-year decline, while Poland fared much better, recording only a 7 percent decline.”

The country ranks behind the Netherlands and Germany in Europe but is gaining prominence as a preferred source for high-quality Christmas decorations.
