Polish company Aluprof has won the tender to supply the windows for the extensive renovation of one of the most famous buildings in the US - the Flatiron, located in Manhattan, New York.

The Flatiron is an iconic building in New York City. The triangular structure, named after its iron-like shape, is located at the intersection of the famous Fifth Avenue and Broadway.

It was one of the first buildings in the world with a steel frame and one of the tallest when it was opened in 1902.

“We will start deliveries in January,” Tomasz Grela, president of Aluprof told gathered journalists.

The building will undergo a radical renovation after the changing ownership and will be converted from office to residential, Polish media outlet money.pl reported.

The work is forecasted to take about three years and once complete will have up to 60 apartments. One of the most luxurious of which will be a penthouse apartment spread across the entire space.

Grela revealed that the company won the tender about two months ago, but only this week signed the contract as it firstly underwent American tests to prove the windows’ quality.

Aluprof will supply a thousand windows as part of the tender, and the total value of the contract will be around $5 million, excluding assembly.
