Polish women lead the field in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in terms of their adoption and use of AI technology, a new study has shown.

The study by Women Go Tech, a Vilnius-based NGO that supports women in the CEE region’s technology sector, revealed that 87% of Polish women use AI tools for a wide range of purposes, from translation to financial planning and content creation.

The NGO’s ‘Women and AI: Challenges, Perceptions, and Perspectives in the CEE Region’ report said that Polish women’s score in the study was well above the CEE average. As well as measuring adoption rates, the study also looked at barriers facing women’s use of AI tools like Chat GTP, GTP-4 and OpenAI-Codex. These included concerns about security and data privacy as well as insufficient training and support. Some women also lacked confidence in using artificial intelligence, the study found.

Women GO Tech CEO Jarūnė Preikšaitė was quoted in the report as saying more women would use the technology if they perceived it as beneficial to their productivity. The researchers argued that better training would help in this regard, pointing out that only 9% of the region’s employers provide guidance to staff on the use of AI.

The study, conducted with support from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and Google, involved more than 5,400 respondents from 13 countries.
