By 19:00 on Saturday, Poland’s State Fire Service had responded to 261 calls due to storms and high winds across the country.
A fire service spokesperson said the calls had chiefly concerned the effects of strong winds and flooding. He said the most calls had come in from the western Wielkopolskie (Greater Poland) province and Lower Silesia (41 incidents each), as well as from Małopolska (Lesser Poland) where 37 incidents were recorded, Silesia (27), Opolskie (17) and the central Mazovian province where the capital, Warsaw, is located.
A storm warning was issued for the whole of Poland on Saturday, with up to 35 mm of rain expected per square meter and winds of up to 80 km/h.
