Georgia has moved to renew contracts with Israeli technology firm Cellebrite for software used to extract data from mobile devices, procurement documents show, as the country grapples with ongoing anti-government street protests.

Serbian officials installed homegrown spyware on the phones of dozens of journalists and activists, Amnesty International has said in a report, citing digital forensic evidence and testimony from activists who said they were hacked in recent months.

Poland’s Justice Minister, Adam Bodnar, revealed on Saturday that a greater number of individuals than the previously confirmed 31 were targeted for covert surveillance through the controversial Pegasus spyware technology, currently under investigation by a parliamentary commission.

Letters are to be sent out to all who had been targeted, informing them their phones had been hacked.
