The rise of mainly Georgian organized crime groups in Poland could plunge the country into an era of gang terror reminiscent of the 1990s, experts have warned.

On Monday, Haiti’s neighbors began bolstering their defenses and recalling embassy staff as the gang conflict in the Caribbean nation escalated. In response, Haiti's de facto government issued a 72-hour state of emergency and imposed nightly curfews.

International connectivity to Haiti was disrupted on Sunday following violent clashes in the capital that have damaged communications and led to a prison break at the main penitentiary as a major gang leader seeks to oust Prime Minister Ariel Henry.
