Lawmakers in Bosnia’s Serb Republic regional parliament on Wednesday ordered Serb representatives in state institutions to block decision-making and law changes needed for the Balkan country’s integration into the European Union.

Bosnian media have said Russia was behind apparent training conducted in the country aimed at inciting riots in Moldova in the run-up to a presidential election and referendum on EU ambitions.

Hundreds of Serbs gathered at Republic Square in Belgrade, Serbia’s capital, on Saturday to express the “unity of the Serbian nation.”

The foreign minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina has claimed that a “malignant Russian influence” was behind an apparent attempt to stop Poles, Romanians and Slovenians from voting in European Parliament elections at diplomatic missions in the country.

The UN is set to vote on establishing an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the genocide that saw over 8,000 Bosnian Muslims murdered in 1995 by Bosnian Serbs.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Ministry chief Elmedin Konaković has called the Israeli ambassador to Serbia, Jahel Wilan, “a disgrace both humanity and diplomacy” following the diplomat’s statement that Israel does not recognize the events in Srebrenica as a genocide because it “belittles” the term, N1 TV reported on Sunday.

The Alliance’s forces were previously stationed in BiH until the end of 2004, when the responsibility for maintaining peace transitioned to the EU forces.

Bećirović stated that “NATO is one of the key factors ensuring peace and stability in BiH, and the citizens appreciate this.”
