A Polish athlete has won a body-punishing ultramarathon in Iceland for the second consecutive time by running 254.6 kilometers.

Marlena Radziszewska was the last competitor still standing after completing 38 loops of 6.7 kilometers in the Bakgardur endurance race.

Participants had to repeatedly complete a loop within an hour, or face elimination. Runners who finished early could rest until the next loop starts on the hour.

Speaking to the Icelandic outlet Visir, which broadcast the event live, she said, "I simply kept running, and at some point, I forgot about the passing time until I realized I was the last one left on the track."

According to Iceland’s public television channel, RUV, Radziszewska appeared “completely unfazed” by the grueling distance and reportedly looked like she could have continued.

"I enjoy running, especially on distances between 200 and 300 kilometers," the 33-year-old told RUV.

The broadcaster also highlighted that Radziszewska now lives in Keflavik, Iceland. She has been running ultramarathons for the past five years.
