Poland and Vietnam have decided to deepen their cooperation in the agricultural sector following talks on Friday.

The discussions were chaired by Poland’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Jacek Czerniak, and Nguyễn Thị Lệ Thủy, head of the Vietnamese delegation.

“Deputy Minister Jacek Czerniak expressed satisfaction with the Vietnamese side’s interest in enhancing dialogue on agriculture and scientific research. He also highlighted the significant potential for Polish-Vietnamese cooperation in the agricultural and food sectors,” the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development wrote in a statement.

Czerniak emphasized the need to finalize discussions on opening the Vietnamese market to Polish highbush blueberries and lifting the ban on pork imports from five Polish provinces (Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, and Lubelskie), which Vietnam imposed in 2018 due to an outbreak of African Swine Fever. Both sides confirmed their commitment to organizing a meeting between the Polish-Vietnamese working group on agricultural cooperation. They also identified substantial potential for collaboration in trade, as well as in science and research, with a particular focus on aquaculture.
