A 50-year-old man was hospitalized in Krakow, southern Poland, after a moose crashed through a high school window yesterday afternoon.

The bizarre incident occurred at around 5 p.m. at Kolegium Europejskie in the city’s Zabłocie district. According to local accounts on Facebook, the animal had been spotted prowling the south-eastern district just days before.

He returned on Thursday, this time smashing through a window and showering a man with glass.

The injured man was rushed to hospital with head and hand injuries. Amid the chaos, around fifty students were forced to flee the building.

First to respond, firefighters were soon on the scene and provided first aid to the man until medics arrived. Despite calling the vets, they were unable to save the moose. Thought to have wandered into Kraków from Niepołomice Forest, the disoriented animal died from its injuries and was later seen being carried out of the building by firecrews.
