Poland should not shoot down every object that violates its airspace: expert

On Sunday, amidst a massive bombardment of Ukraine, a Russian missile breached Polish territory. In order to discuss possible scenarios going forward and the reasons behind the incursion, TVP World invited Professor Jarosław Gryz from the War Studies University.

According to the professor, should Russia intentionally dispatch a missile through Polish airspace, the action could serve dual purposes: to assess the capabilities of Poland’s missile defense mechanisms or to send a defiant message to NATO, demonstrating Moscow is not scared of the Alliance.

He went on to say that it would not be a good idea for Poland to start shooting down everything that violates the country’s airspace because it would deplete Polish resources.

Gryz pointed out that if a situation like this continues to happen, Poland should take a stronger stance.
