Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has told the UN that Russia is planning strikes on his country’s nuclear power stations, raising the prospect of an international disaster.

The rocket barrage comes a day after almost 500 died in Israeli air attacks.

President Zelenskyy added that Putin ‘was very afraid’ and appealed for the West to stand strong.

Ukraine’s President called on the U.N. Security Council to convene an emergency meeting following Russia’s massive strike on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including a children’s hospital.

Norway, together with Spain and Ireland, will recognize Palestine as an independent state in the hope that it will bring peace with Israel, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has said.

Statistics released by UNICEF have shown a 40% rise in the number of children killed in Ukraine compared to the same period last year. So far this year, thirty-four children have died as a result of hostilities with the youngest victim just two months old.

Guterres reiterated his condemnation of the attack and called for the immediate cessation of hostilities.
