Three new desalination plants are planned on the banks of the Oder River in western Poland as part of a government effort to avoid a repeat of a 2022 ecological disaster that devastated fish stocks in the river.

Two years after its wildlife was decimated by an ecological disaster, a deal has been signed to increase the Oder River’s fish population, the Climate Ministry has said.
