A former deputy Polish justice minister could lose his parliamentary immunity as an investigation continues into the alleged misuse of millions of zloty earmarked for a fund to support victims of crime.

Poland’s lower house of parliament (Sejm), has lifted the immunity of MP Michał Woś, a deputy justice minister in the previous government, over allegations of misusing funds for a highly-invasive surveillance system.

Charges have been filed against seven people by the National Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the so-called Justice Fund case.

In late January, an investigative team was established to scrutinize how money from the Justice Fund was spent by the previous government.

Prosecutors investigating the possible abuse of a fund to support crime victims ordered searches of various properties across the country, the National Prosecutor's Office has reported. Four people have been arrested as part of the investigation.
