Bratislava is bracing itself for one of its worst floods in over 100 years as heavy downpours in Germany and Austria threaten to burst the banks of the Danube River.

Slovakia demonstrates Russian leanings at Bratislava liberation anniversary

EU and U.S. diplomats did not attend Thursday’s ceremonies marking the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Bratislava. As the ambassadors of Russia and Belarus were present, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico gave an interview to Russian state television, which ended with him saying “spasiba” (Eng. thank you) in Russian.
