A former judge who had his judicial immunity removed after fleeing to Belarus amid accusations of being a spy is now facing a second European Arrest Warrant following allegations related to a hate scandal.

The prime ministers of Ireland, Finland and the Netherlands have spoken in support of controversial Polish plans to temporarily suspend the right to asylum in order to tackle migratory pressure at the Belarusian border.

Poland's president condemned a government plan to temporarily suspend the right to asylum on Wednesday, saying it would harm members of the Belarusian opposition fleeing repression in their own country.

He said a proposed suspension of asylum rights would be reconciled with protection of dissidents.

On Saturday, the Polish PM announced Poland will temporarily suspend the right to asylum.

The European Union’s top court has ruled that Hungary must pay €200 million for failing to change its policy on migration and asylum, in line with a previous ruling of the court in 2020.

Britain will gain access to the EU’s intelligence on criminal gangs involved in human trafficking as part of a deal with the bloc’s border protection agency, Frontex, in another sign of closer cooperation between the two sides after Brexit.
