‘Hopefully, Trump knows what he’s doing,’ says NATO’s former liaison to Moscow

A former NATO liaison officer to Moscow told TVP World that he hopes “Trump knows what he’s doing” when it comes to talking to Putin.

Gary Tabach was commenting on efforts by the U.S. president to bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table to end the war.

Tabach said he was surprised by the White House pausing military aid and intelligence for Kyiv.

“But it seems to me like Putin has been trickier than we expected,” he said, citing how Trump has complained about having a harder time getting Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the negotiating table than the Russian president.

He added that Trump has threatened Russia with more sanctions if it does not cease its bombardment of Ukraine and that the recent drop in oil prices is making the situation harder for Russia.

“Hopefully President Trump knows what he's doing,” said Tabach.
