The Polish record for the longest gingerbread cake has been smashed by some 5 meters by a cake baked over the weekend that stretched to 74.90 meters.
The cake was produced at the annual Bread and Gingerbread Festival in the town of Jawor in south-west Poland.
It took 4,800 eggs, 200 kg of honey, the same amount of cream and butter, 400 kg of flour, 900 kg of plum preserves, and 430 kg of chocolate to create the cake, which weighed in at 2,000 kg.
It was also big enough to serve 28,000 people, a number greater than the entire population of Jawor.
“I never doubted for a moment that we would succeed,” said Emilian Bera, Jawor’s mayor. “Jawor’s market square is already becoming too small for such records. Perhaps in the future, we’ll be laying out a new record-breaking gingerbread on the S3 highway?” he quipped
