Most foreign employees working in Poland (59%) would rather stay than return to their country of origin, a survey by staffing agency Randstad has shown.

According to data from Poland’s Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), nearly 1.3 million foreigners were legally working in the country at the end of October 2023, representing almost 7% of its total workforce.

The majority of migrants registered with ZUS come from Ukraine (761,000), followed by Belarus (128,000) and Georgia (27,000).

The Randstad survey included employees from Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Russia, and Nepal, among others.

“The fact that foreigners are more willing to associate their professional future with Poland may be influenced by the fact that they declare increasingly high job satisfaction,” Randstad explained in the survey.

“Ninety-four percent of survey participants are satisfied with their current employment conditions,” the company said.

For two-thirds of foreign workers, particularly those with a higher education, the most important factor, when choosing an offer, is salary. At the same time, the importance of wages is diminishing in favor of other factors.

In last year’s edition of the survey, remuneration was indicated as a priority by 91% of respondents. The other most important aspects for employees include – paid holidays (53%) and preferred type of contract (48%).
