NATO recognizes two threats: Russia and terrorist groups: General Everard

“Russia always had an idea of winning without battle, that you use all the tools at your disposal, so that if you have to fight you always give yourself an edge,” former Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Sir James Everard said in an interview with TVP World, in reference to the possibility of increased Russian hybrid attacks.

Sir James Everard was educated at Uppingham School and commissioned into the 17th/21st Lancers in June 1983. His notable assignments include Chief of Staff for the 4th Armoured Brigade in Bosnia and Military Assistant to the Commander of the Kosovo Force. He later commanded the Queen’s Royal Lancers and the 20th Armoured Brigade, with a deployment to Iraq focused on combating corruption. He held several key positions, including Director of Commitments at Land Command, General Officer Commanding the 3rd (U.K.) Division, and Assistant Chief of the General Staff. Everard was also NATO’s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe before retiring in 2020.
