What we negotiated before accession was optimal: Prof. Grzegorz Kołodko for TVP World

“We are very glad that we joined the European Union, and I think (Poland joined) at the best conditions at that time,” Professor Grzegorz Kołodko remarked during an interview with TVP World on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the country’s accession to the EU, reflecting on the journey Poland undertook to become an EU member.

Professor Grzegorz Kołodko is a prominent economist known for his role in shaping Polish economic policies. He authored the New Pragmatism theory and served as Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance (1994-1997, 2002-2003), playing a key part in the country’s EU accession. Kołodko advises international organizations and founded TIGER – Transformation, Integration, and Globalization Economic Research at Kozminski University in Warsaw.
