Today, 20 years ago, Hungary, along with other Central and Eastern European countries like Poland, joined the European Union (EU). To reflect on Hungary’s experience in the EU, TVP World hosted Márton Gyöngyösi, a member of the European Parliament (MEP), and the President of Hungary’s political party, Jobbik.
“I think 20 years in the European Union is a good time to reflect on the two decades of EU membership and to say praise that we are members [of the bloc-TVP World],” he said.
“I think it is very important in today’s Hungary to make an assessment and to come to a conclusion how important it is, after 50 years of communism and a disastrous twentieth century, to be a member of a peace project, which is there to bring development to the country in every sense,” Gyöngyösi added.
“I think it is a very important time for reflection, 1st of May 2024,” he stressed.
