Poland’s President Duda and Prime Minister Tusk cast their votes in local elections

President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk have already cast their ballots in Poland’s local elections held on Sunday.

Since 7 am residents across Poland have been casting their votes for communal, county, and provincial councilors as well as town and city mayors. Polling stations will close at 9 pm.

Duda, who voted in his hometown of Krakow early in the afternoon, said that Sunday elections were important for Poland’s future as “the competencies of local authorities have a huge impact on reality, country development, and living conditions.”

Tusk, who cast his ballot in his hometown of Sopot on the Baltic coast earlier on Sunday, said that “voting is always something exciting in conditions of freedom and democracy” and that “anyone who does not want their fate decided by others should vote today.”
