Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said that Holy Saturday is a day to calm negative emotions and move towards cordiality and sincerity.
The prime minister added that this day could be the beginning of the path to a good, cordial, and sincere atmosphere everywhere in the country.
“I am glad that we are meeting today, on Holy Saturday, in the mood of awaiting better news and calming down negative emotions,” Tusk said during a meeting with residents of Kościerzyna, northern Poland.
He said that spending Easter in the province of Kashubia is of particular importance to him. “It’s my home, so I’m really moved because it’s a symbolic moment for me,” he said.
Tusk also noted that his daily work “is often marked by emotions that are difficult to go through.”
“For me, the most important thing is to think that on Holy Saturday it is possible to positively reverse these emotions,” he continued. “As a nation, with neighbors and Polish families, we can not only put these negative emotions aside at Easter but also switch our entire lives to more positive paths.”
He drew attention to the fact that politics can at times be dramatic, arousing anger and sometimes anxiety. “There is a war going on near our country, so it’s hard to be optimistic. In fact, in history, the most important thing turned out to be human hearts that opposed evil and negative emotions,” he said.
The PM also spoke about the importance of helping those in need and about the solidarity with Ukraine that Poles showed after the Russian invasion.
In his speech, the prime minister expressed his belief that the essence of Easter is the fact that “regardless of the dramas that accompany our lives, we must always look forward with hope that Easter Sunday always comes and this great promise that evil does not have to triumph.”
