Poland relieves its General from Eurocorps commander post, orders immediate return

The Polish Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that Warsaw has recalled Lieutenant General Jarosław Gromadziński from the post of commander of the multinational military rapid reaction force Eurocorps.

The decision to recall the general and order him to return immediately to Poland was made after “the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) launched an investigation into the security clearance of the general as it had acquired new information about the officer,” the Defense Ministry wrote in a statement.

The ministry also wrote that another officer would be immediately appointed to take over the Eurocorps command.

Gromadziński took over command of the multinational force composed of troops from Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Poland on June 29, 2023. The European Corps is a multinational rapid reaction force formed in order to take part in crisis, humanitarian, rescue and peace operations in cooperation with the European Union and Nato. Its command together with a support unit has been stationed in Strasbourg, France, and is able to command a combat force of up to 60,000 troops during various operations and in different climate zones.Today, it is composed of personnel from six framework nations (mentioned above) and five associated nations (Austria, Greece, Italy, Romania, Turkey).

General Gromadziński declined to comment on the development when approached by TVP World.
