Visegrad group united by key common interests: FM Sikorski

“The interests that unite us concern migration, infrastructure, decarbonization, and nuclear energy,” Foreign Ministry chief Radosław Sikorski commented after a meeting of Visegrad Group foreign ministers in Prague on Thursday.

The head of Polish diplomacy, who spoke at a joint conference with the heads of the foreign ministries of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary, assessed that their talks were “sincere and lively.”

“We respect each other's interests, which, of course, are not identical,” Sikorski highlighted.
“We have a lot in common (...). These are interests concerning migration, infrastructure in our region (...). Also, when it comes to the legacy of socialism in our countries and dealing with it, when it comes to decarbonization or nuclear energy,” he noted.
“In these areas, this cooperation is very useful, and I am glad that it is taking place and will continue to take place,” the minister of foreign affairs stressed.

Skiorski also congratulated the Czech Republic and expressed his appreciation for the initiative related to the supply of ammunition to Ukraine.

“We are glad that we can contribute to this initiative, not only financially but also logistically. So that this ammunition can effectively reach the front,” Sikorski emphasized.

The minister also added that the heads of foreign affairs of the Visegrad Group confirmed what the V4 countries agreed at the United Nations meeting.

“Namely, that the Russian invasion is an unjust war; it is a war of aggression, and that Ukraine has the right to independence and territorial integrity in accordance with international law. And this also applies to the agreements signed between Russia and Ukraine on borders, signed by President Putin,” Sikorski noted.
