On the occasion of the second anniversary of Russian aggression against Ukraine Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski issued a statement in which he assured of Poland’s support for the war-torn country. “Behind Ukraine stand the European countries, stands NATO, stands Poland,” he said in a video published on social media.

“Two years ago Russian bombs and missiles fell on Ukraine’s sleeping cities in the morning. A war that in Europe seemed something unimaginable has begun. Ukrainian land ran with blood, settlements were ruined, villages ravaged, schools burned, children abducted. The war crimes committed by the Russian invaders shook the conscience of the world,” the foreign minister says in the video. Sikorski also commented on Putin’s actions. “The Russian dictator, in the name of a sick ideology, has decided that he is the one who decides which nations have the right to exist, which states are real and which are artificial. In a sense of pride, he decided to rebuild a great empire by attacking and murdering his neighbors. He calls the combination of brutal force and lies a ‘special operation’,” he continued.

The head of the Foreign Ministry also stressed that Ukraine is not fighting alone. “European countries, NATO countries, Poland stand behind it, NATO stands behind it, Poland stands behind it. Heroic resistance has awakened Europe and reminded it how important its values are, if Ukrainians die for them. Two years ago, Poles welcomed their Ukrainian friends in their homes, rushed in with humanitarian aid, reminding the world where the concept of solidarity was born,” Sikorski stressed.

He noted that Ukrainians are defending all of Europe against Putin's aggression.

“President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that there will never be a white flag flying over Ukraine, but always a yellow-blue flag. We believe that Russia will lose, Ukraine will win and will be part of a united Europe, Slava Ukrainii” he concluded.
