For Europe, Ukraine, and Poland, the result brings both hope and uncertainty, as Trump could become even more unpredictable in the months ahead. “We are heading into a very uncertain period,” says Marcin Bużański, Director, Center for Diplomacy and Negotiation, Civitas University, in World Talks. According to Bużański, Trump is likely to continue his policy of opening up to Russia, largely because it aligns with his personal interests. At the same time, Poland has a strong interest in maintaining close relations with the United States, as its security remains closely tied to American military presence in Europe. Discussions are also continuing over the possible establishment of a permanent U.S. military base in Poland. The question, however, is whether the Democrats’ victory ultimately works in Warsaw’s favor, given that many Democrats may now focus primarily on domestic issues and economic challenges inside the United States.
