On World Talks, Piotr Maciej Kaczyński, an EU Institutional Issues Lecturer at the University of Warsaw, argues that the U.S. election result is a setback for Poland's conservative–nationalist camp because its most important international ally has suffered a political defeat. At the same time, Kaczyński notes that U.S. President Donald Trump will remain in office until 2027 and should not be written off as a political force. In his view, the transatlantic impact of the midterms will continue to be felt as both Europe and the United States adjust to a new political reality. The analyst also points out that the situation in Washington increasingly resembles developments in Poland. In both countries, a conservative president coexists with a liberal government. Join Jonasz Rewiński and his guest as they discuss the impact of the U.S. midterms on Poland, the future of the MAGA movement, and what a divided government could mean for transatlantic politics.
