Two videos showing tourists grabbing and struggling with deer on a trail in Poland’s Tatra Mountains have prompted anger across social media and renewed warnings against approaching wild animals. The clips, posted on Saturday, show separate encounters on the route to Morskie Oko, a popular mountain lake near the Slovak border. Men can be seen holding deer by their antlers as other hikers watch. Neither recording shows how the confrontation began, and claims that the tourists were trying to pet the animals remain unverified. The Tatra National Park has warned visitors not to approach, touch or feed deer, even when they appear accustomed to people. Such contact can threaten both visitors and wildlife. Deer also roam the streets of nearby Zakopane, where officials have warned that feeding them erodes their natural fear of humans. After an earlier deer attack in the town, authorities erected signs warning people against feeding the animals.
