Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said India would support Poland’s bid for a permanent place in the G20 during a three-day visit aimed at expanding trade and technology ties. Tusk said on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to back Poland in talks in New Delhi. The two governments discussed defense cooperation and space-industry partnerships. During the official visit, Tusk met business leaders and Karnataka State Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Polish and Indian astronauts flew together to the International Space Station on Axiom Mission 4 in 2025, an experience Tusk wants to translate into industrial projects. The visit also recalled the Good Maharaja, an Indian ruler who sheltered Polish children evacuated from the Soviet Union during World War II. Tusk presented a commemorative stamp to his grandson. Poland and India elevated relations to a strategic partnership in 2024. Tusk also confirmed he had received an invitation from the UK to the 2027 G20 summit in Manchester, though attendance would not confer membership.
