A suspected Ukrainian drone crashed in Lithuania after apparently being diverted by Russian electronic warfare, while saboteurs attempted to set fire to a facility servicing Starlink infrastructure used by Ukraine. Reports have also emerged of another airspace incident in Poland, where the military continues searching for an unidentified object that may have crossed the country's border. All of these incidents point to a broader concern: gaps in NATO’s air surveillance and protection capabilities. “I would also advocate deploying additional airspace surveillance systems from NATO and EU partners on the eastern flank,” Petras Auštrevičius, Lithuanian MEP from the Renew Europe Group, told World Talks. According to Auštrevičius, the eastern flank remains particularly exposed as Russia carefully studies and targets infrastructure involved, directly or indirectly, in supporting Ukraine. Join Don Arleth and his guest as they discuss Russian hybrid warfare, security vulnerabilities on NATO’s eastern flank, Starlink-related sabotage attempts, airspace violations, and Europe’s response to a growing campaign of pressure and intimidation.
