Poland has completed installation of all 76 turbines at Baltic Power, the country’s first offshore wind farm, marking the end of the project’s main offshore construction campaign. The approximately 1.2-GW facility, developed by Polish energy group Orlen and Canada’s Northland Power, is now undergoing commissioning and reliability tests ahead of full operation in the coming months. Some turbines are already supplying electricity to Poland’s national grid. Once fully operational, Baltic Power is expected to generate around 4 TWh of electricity annually, enough to meet roughly 3% of Poland’s current electricity demand and supply more than 1.5 million households. The project, located about 23 kilometers off Poland’s Baltic coast near Łeba and Choczewo, began offshore construction in early 2025. At the time, Baltic Power was the first offshore wind project to enter construction in Polish Baltic waters. Orlen is also pursuing further offshore projects as Poland expands renewable generation and seeks greater energy security.
