The same bridge was hit on Saturday, following earlier strikes on the city’s Southern Bridge. Footage emerged on Sunday morning of cars on the Northern Bridge in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, being hit by an attack drone. The strike came after the same bridge was hit in a Russian air attack on Saturday, following strikes on the city’s Southern Bridge on October 1 and 2. Kyiv is in a “very dramatic situation,” the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said on Friday as Russia stepped up attacks on critical infrastructure in the city, including bridges. “The enemy is tearing Kyiv apart,” Klitschko said. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has attributed the latest wave of strikes on Kyiv to a “new doctrine” adopted by Moscow. Ukrainian intelligence has obtained Russian documents setting out a revised attack strategy, Zelenskyy said on Friday. "We saw documents and we know that they allow them to attack infrastructure ... logistics ... roads, schools, hospitals," Zelenskyy told Reuters. “To pressure people to leave the capital, leave different cities: this is the goal of the operation.” Zelenskyy went on to say Ukraine’s armed forces would intensify attacks on Russian oil refineries in response to the escalation by Moscow but would not attack civilian targets. Russia’s foreign ministry issued a statement on Saturday in which it urged foreign nationals to abandon Kyiv as Moscow vowed to continue what it called retaliatory strikes against Ukraine.
