The boy had previously killed a number of cats, police said. Police in northern Poland have detained a 13-year-old boy in possession of a 30cm bayonet, following a tip-off that he was planning an attack at his school. Officers swooped on the boy’s home in the town of Wąbrzeźno near the city of Bydgoszcz at 6 a.m. on Monday and found the weapon in his school backpack, police said in a statement. "Officers seized a bayonet from a backpack prepared for school, as well as a meat cleaver from the apartment," the statement read. "Proceedings involving the 13-year-old are currently underway, in the presence of a parent." Cybercrime officers are also involved in the case, the statement said, adding that other security services have been informed. Suspect ‘killed cats’ Police detained the boy after a tip-off from abroad via the force’s international cooperation bureau. The boy, meanwhile, admitted he had killed a number of cats over the summer recess and had shown police where their bodies were buried, officers said. Private radio station RMF FM, which broke the news, reported that the boy had been a member of online fascist and extremist forums.
