Germany’s AfD Calls for End to Ukraine Aid. The Bundestag debated an AfD motion Thursday that calls for Germany to withdraw from sanctions the party says conflict with German interests and reject extending EU security guarantees to Ukraine. The proposal would preserve humanitarian assistance while ending other forms of support and calls for greater German access to Ukrainian raw materials. The motion drew criticism from other parliamentary groups as the AfD gains political strength following major successes in recent state elections. The party won 43.8% in Saxony-Anhalt and finished first in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Major German parties continue to rule out forming governing coalitions with the AfD.
