Police and city guards escorted the animal back toward the wild after its tour of Ełk. A moose paid an unexpected visit to city hall and a museum in northeastern Poland, prompting police and city guards to escort it safely out of town. The animal turned up near the municipal offices in Ełk on Thursday morning. City guards, firefighters and police were called in, while a veterinarian stood by in case the animal needed to be sedated. The moose also stopped by the Ełk Historical Museum, which shared footage of its unexpected guest on Facebook. “Be like the moose and come visit us too!” the museum wrote. There was no need for the veterinarian to intervene. With officers keeping watch, the moose headed to the outskirts of the city and returned to its natural habitat, city guard chief Krzysztof Skiba told local broadcaster Radio 5. Skiba said the city guard had responded to plenty of unusual animal sightings in its more than 30 years of operation, including ones involving ostriches and elephants.
