The US president called for an end to the “ridiculous and never ending War with Ukraine.” US President Donald Trump says that Russia has “lost control” of its diesel industry and again reprised his call for an end to Moscow’s war with Ukraine. “Russia has unfortunately lost control of its Diesel Oil Industry due to its War with Ukraine,” Trump said in a social media post on Monday, a day before is due to meet the Ukrainian President on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. “A large number of their Diesel refineries have been blown up and are, at least temporarily, out of commission,” the post continued. “This ridiculous and never ending War with Ukraine must be ended.” ‘Ideas on the table’ Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, agreed that Russia’s war “against Ukraine and against common sense” must end and said that Ukraine had sought peace “from the very first minute.” “We have already made dozens of diplomatic proposals on how to end this war with dignity, guarantee security, and prevent new Russian invasions,” he wrote in an X post on Monday. “Right now, there is a dialogue with President Trump and America. There are also ideas on the table for bringing peace closer, starting with strong de-escalation steps.” His post also contained a warning to Russia. “It will no longer be the case that only the country under attack suffers,” Zelenskyy wrote. “The nature of war is now such that the aggressor will suffer as well. Technology makes this possible.” The Ukrainian head of state said de-escalation proposals would be discussed with Kyiv’s partners on the margins of the UN General Assembly.
