Military aircraft, armored vehicles and units from across Europe gathered in the Czech city of Ostrava on Saturday for NATO Days and Czech Air Force Days, one of the continent’s largest public security showcases. Representatives from 14 countries and NATO are taking part in the September 19-20 event at Leoš Janáček Ostrava Airport, with displays ranging from fighter jets and helicopters to tanks, parachute teams and police dog units. Saturday’s program includes German Eurofighters and helicopters, Spanish and Turkish fighter displays, a US B-1B Lancer flypast, Britain’s Red Arrows and a joint Czech-Polish parachute jump. The event comes amid heightened concern over security on NATO’s eastern flank. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk this week warned that intelligence assessments pointed to possible Russian hybrid drone or missile attacks against countries supporting Ukraine. Tusk warns Russia may stage ‘accidental’ strikes on NATO’s eastern flank Admission to the two-day event is free.
