Moldova has seen several drone incursions into its air space since Russia invaded Ukraine. Moldovan police have found debris from a suspected drone that may have crashed into a field near the capital, Chișinău, on Friday. Locals called the police to an area near the village of Colonita after hearing a loud explosion in the morning. Police cordoned off the area, and the Moldovan Defense Ministry announced the circumstances behind the incident were under investigation. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Moldova and neighboring Romania have reported repeated several breaches of their airspace by drones. On August 27, five drones crossed into Moldovan airspace during a massive Russian attack on Ukraine. Recently, a Russian drone flew over Chișinău, before flying into Romanian airspace, and skirting north of the city of Roman, about 160 km from Ukraine. The drone then changed direction and headed back into Moldova, where it crashed, Romania’s Defense Ministry said.
