Emergency services were called out in Warsaw to deal with an unusual problem—a moose holding up rail traffic in the heart of the capital. Rail passengers faced severe disruption on Sunday evening after the animal wandered onto tracks between Warsaw West and Warsaw Central stations. Travelers waiting for their trains were surprised to be informed by railway staff that a moose was the cause of the hold-ups. Authorities later said that the animal had been sedated with a tranquilizer dart, loaded onto a special stretcher, and removed from the site, after which normal rail services were restored. The moose was returned to local woodland.
