Strong sales of Cyberpunk and The Witcher titles, alongside growing revenue from licensing the company’s game brands, lifted earnings. Poland’s biggest game developer, CD Projekt, reported a 37% year-on-year rise in first-half net profit, beating analyst expectations. The Warsaw-listed group behind franchises including The Witcher and Cyberpunk said on Wednesday that its consolidated net profit reached PLN 249.1 million (€57.5 million) in the first six months of the year, above the PLN 201 million (€46.5 million) average forecast in a Reuters poll. It generated PLN 435.3 million (€100.5 million) in revenue during the period, up 23% from a year earlier. Piotr Nielubowicz, CD Projekt’s chief financial officer, said the results were driven by strong sales of games from the Cyberpunk and The Witcher universes. “This year a significant contribution [to revenue] came also from licensing our IP [intellectual property] – an activity which is progressively becoming more important for us and which reflects the recognition and status of our brands within global popular culture,” he added. The Witcher series expands For CD Projekt RED fans, there is plenty to look forward to in the months ahead. Last week, the gaming studio announced that the next installment in its fantasy series, The Witcher 4, is targeting a 2028 release. The franchise is based on novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, which follow the adventures of monster slayer Geralt of Rivia and draw heavily on Slavic folklore and mythology. The Witcher 4 will be the first game in the new saga to follow Ciri, Geralt’s adopted daughter, as its protagonist. CD Projekt RED is also preparing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, due for release on September 29, while a new expansion, Songs of the Past, is planned for 2027.
